Margaret McCartney – CEO & Registered Migration Agent
The impetus for Margaret’s founding of Expat International in 1983 sprang from combining her commerce background with her own expatriate experiences gained on five continents in the course of 14 years. Her vision as a pioneer of the Australian relocation industry has been endorsed by the high regard in which she and Expat are held both in Australia, and around the world. Margaret holds an honorary title of Senior Global Mobility Specialist (SGMS) conferred by Worldwide Employee Relocation Council and was recently awarded their converted Distinguished Service Award.
Expat’s migration division was added in 1987, and in 1992 Margaret was a founding member of the Migration Institute of Australia when migration consultants were for the first time, required to undergo tertiary study to become registered practitioners, Margaret again was a pioneer in becoming a graduate of the Class of ’92.
Trish Hansen is The Managing Director- Human Resources & Mobility Services with Expat International. Trish joined the team at Expat International in 2004 after returning from four years living and working in London. Trish is currently on the Advisory Council to to the WERC Board based in Washington DC. WERC is the global mobility sector’s key industry body.
Trish has through her corporate career developed and implemented management programs for global companies and policy for major corporations in the area of talent and career development, remuneration and expatriate policy and programs.
Prior to her London assignment Trish was the Chief Executive Officer of Investors in People Australia, a company established by the Australian Institute of Management in early 1996. During this period Trish was also a member of the IiPA Board.
Trish, who has an economics background and a post graduate degree in Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations, was prior to Investors in People, Manager of Professional Development in Corporate Finance at Telstra.
Trish’s career has principally focussed on the implementation of large-scale human resource projects in major corporations, including the Bank of New Zealand, ACI International, National Australia Bank, GM Holden and Telstra.
Trish has also played a significant role in training and development and has presented a number of papers on career development and performance management at conferences both in Australia and overseas for National Australia Bank and Investors in People. Trish has also presented forums at Mobility Conferences in both Washington DC and Stockedale ,Arizona.
Ferren Tao, MARN 1278102 – Senior Migration Consultant
Ferren completed the Graduate Certificate in Immigration Law from Victoria University in 2011 and continued her development through internal company training. Within Expat’s team, she specialises in Employer Sponsored visas, General Skilled Migration including onshore Skilled Graduate visas and Student visas. Ferren graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Commerce (accounting major) in 2007.
She is an Member of CPA Australia, in addition to being a Registered Migration Agent. Migrating from China to Australia in 2004, Ferren understands first-hand the complexities of the Australian visa system, and uses her skills to effectively manage communication between her corporate clients, visa applicants and the Department to ensure the best possible outcome. Ferren has been part of the Expat team since 2014.
Christen completed a Bachelor of International Hotel and Tourism Management and after finishing her degree, Christen worked in hospitality management for eight years, with an extensive customer service focus and incorporating excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including demonstrated ability to build relationships cross-culturally.
Christen joined the Expat International team in 2006 and has shown a demonstrated success in developing strong relationships with her clients, and an outstanding ability to deliver practical and meaningful solutions adding value and enabling business success.
Tania is a Senior Account Manager, who prides herself on providing seamless transition and relocation experience through excellent communication and follow-through. Tania has completed a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws. She practiced as a lawyer for seven years but her passion is Mobility and assisting others in undertaking their moves. Tania lived in the USA for a number of years .
Tania has also been an experienced Personal Consultant, providing assistance in home and school search, through to personalised settling-in services. Tania uses her exceptional customer service skills and an ability to make each client feel relaxed, welcome and well taken care of by the Expat Team.
Vanna is Expat International’s Global Immigration Administrator, assisting clients through all aspects of their domestic and international moves. She is the company’s Digital Media Officer, monitoring and expanding Expat’s digital channels, generating content, and strengthening Expat’s voice in the world of global mobility services and visas.
A former member of the diplomatic corps, Vanna has lived and worked in Dublin, Ireland and Manila, Philippines before coming to Melbourne and joining Expat’s ranks. She holds a Master of International Business from Melbourne University.
Calm, collected, and capable, Vanna ensures each valued Expat client receives personal attention and top-notch service.
Alexandra is Expat’s Assistant Account Manager and works alongside Expat’s Relocation Team to provide quality service and support. Her role is to provide a high quality of support in an administrative capacity in order to ensure that Expat clients experience nothing but seamless service.
Alexandra completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne in June 2017, majoring in Politics & International Relations and Media & Communications. She also graduated with a Diploma of Languages specializing in French.
Growing up as an Expat herself, Caragh has lived in Melbourne, Antwerp and Zurich. Having spent much of her life relocating – from a childhood on the move, to living in 3 countries, Caragh understands the challenges and opportunities that relocating can bring.
She is currently completing the Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Politics and International Studies and minoring in Development Studies.
Charlotte works as an Assistant Account Manager, assisting the Relocation team to provide high quality and seamless service. She has personal experience with the relocating, having previously worked in Singapore and Oxford, United Kingdom. She brings a passion to help and make a real difference to her role.
Charlotte is completing her Bachelor of Business majoring in Human Resource Management and Marketing at Monash University.
