For the purposes of providing immigration consulting and global mobility services, Expat may collect certain personal information about you and, if required, your family members and employer.

If you email us through the “Contact Us” link on this site, you may choose to provide personal information such as your name, company, email address and telephone number. Expat uses this information to respond to you in relation to your questions and comments.

Client Services

Expat may collect and process personal information such as your name, address, telephone number, date of birth, marital status, passport number, employment history, educational background, employee number, job title and function, and expatriate status.

Personal information is collated from a number of sources, such as your response to online questionnaires, and forms you complete. In addition, we may request personal information from third-party sources, such as former employers, educational institutions you attended and your current or prospective employer.

We use this information to provide immigration consulting and relocation services, such as: (1) analysing, completing and processing immigration, visa and related applications and submissions to relevant government agencies; (2) assisting with relocation and other expatriate issues; and (3) providing access to online case-management tools, where applicable.

Sensitive Personal Data

Information that falls under the category of “sensitive” includes, but is not limited to: race or ethnic origin, political opinions, gender orientation, physical or mental health or conditions, and data relating to offenses, and/or criminal convictions.

Expat collects sensitive information (as described above) for limited purposes such as, satisfying immigration regulations in relation to health and character for visas or work permits (in Australia or abroad).

Information We Collect by Automated Means

Statistical information such as how many users visit our website and the pages accessed may be collected by automated means.  We use this information to tailor our website and create a more meaningful experience for our visitors.  Information of this nature is collected through “cookies” and IP addresses.

Expat uses “cookies” on this website. An IP address allows the location of digital devices that are connected to the Internet to be pinpointed and differentiated from other devices.  When you visit our website, our servers log your IP address.

Information sourced from automated means helps in tailoring our website content and understanding where our visitors are coming from.  In addition, log files help detect disruptions that may interfere with the provision of our website.

Expat does not disclose personal information, except as previously described.  In our capacity as your immigration advisor and global mobility provider, Expat may disclose personal information only as required, to government agencies, employers and related entities. We occasionally hire other companies to provide limited services on our behalf, such as translating documents, connecting utilities, liaison with rental agencies and other necessary entities.  Such service providers will be permitted to obtain only the information they deem necessary to deliver the service.  They are required to maintain confidentiality of the information and are prohibited from using it for any other purpose than for delivering the service to, or on behalf of Expat in accordance with our instructions and policies.

Expat may access or disclose information about you, including the content of your communications, in order to A) comply with the law or respond to lawful requests or legal process; B) to law enforcement authorities or government officials; C) to prevent physical harm or financial loss in conjunction with an investigation of suspected or actual illegal activity; or D) to protect the vital interests of any person.  We may also disclose personal information as part of a corporate transaction such as a merger or sale of assets.

Expat is committed to protecting the security of your personal information. We educate our employees and third party providers to ensure compliance with appropriate standards of conduct in relation to the protection of personal information.  Our third party providers and associates are selected based on their like-minded approach to privacy protection and are prohibited from using your information other than in connection with the services we have engaged them to provide.

We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. For example, we store the personal information we collect on computer systems with limited access, which are located off-site in secure and controlled facilities. Expat continually reviews and enhances its security systems, as necessary.

Although Expat may create links to third party websites, the company is not responsible for the content or privacy practices employed by websites that are linked from our website.

Your control and rights

Expat provides you with the ability to exercise certain controls and choices regarding our collection, use and sharing of your information. In accordance with local laws, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and where appropriate review and correct inaccuracies.  We will also request third parties with whom we have shared the information to do the same.

Where the purpose of Expat’s information collection falls outside of our stated policy, you may choose to opt-out of personal information about you being processed for the new purpose.

Expat may change this privacy policy periodically to accommodate new technologies, industry practices, regulatory requirements or for other purposes.
