Australian Border Force changes
Changes have been announced by the Australian Government to the border protection portfolio in regards to the future border protection arrangements.
Starting from the 1st of July 2015, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection and The Australian Customs and Border Protection services will combine into a single department of Immigration and Border Protection. The Australian Border Force (A front line operational border agency) , for the meantime, will be established within the department.
Operational borders, investigations, compliance’s, detention and enforcement will be handled via The Australian Border Force, while Policy, regulatory and corporate functions will integrate into the broader department.
