If your clients have been having trouble finding accommodation in Melbourne, it’s because the city is chock-a-block with events this March!
Firstly, the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival 2013 is set to alight many-a-tastebud from March 1-17. Both in regional Victoria and the city, the state is hosting a giant smorgasbord of gourmet food, delicious wine…and some adventures along the way. And why not? Melbourne is known as the “foodie” capital of Australia, so the city is more than happy to share some of it’s secrets.
Here are some of our highlights of the festival:
The Urban Coffee Farm & Brew Bar celebrates Melbourne’s passion for excellent coffee by recreating a terraced coffee farm, complete with shipping containers and packing crates. Top baristas will be on show offering tastings while you walk through the display of 120 coffee plants, discovering how each go from seedling to coffee cup.
Gifts from the Soils of Mexico celebrates Melbourne’s new obsession with all things Mexican, with an afternoon of traditional food, drink and music at Richmond restaurant Chingón Cantina y Taqueria (featured photo). The story of Tequila Tromba, a liquor produced by the blue agave plant of central Mexico, will be explored, and tortillas and salsas will be freshly-made right before your eyes.
Acqua Panna Global Wine Experience is hosting a feast for your tastebuds, with four different taste sittings, taking you on different journeys. “The Wines of Wonderland” exports you to Europe, where you taste a selection of 12 European wines, where in “Whose Pinot Reigns Supreme?” you get to play wine critic, with a selection of Australian and New Zealand Pinots.
The 2013 Formula 1 Rolex Australia Grand Prix is being held in Melbourne from March 14-17 and is a must for any sports fanatic. The Melbourne Grand Prix is a major international sporting event, with tourists and fans coming from all corners of the world to cheer on their favourite, watch some thrilling racing action, or just simply mingle in the extraordinary atmosphere. Tickets start from $55 (or if you want the gold class treatment, there are corporate suites starting from $1050), and are available here.
