2014 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival
Melbourne Food and Wine Festival 2014
28th February – 16th March
Water, Water, everywhere, and all the boards did shrink; water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink.
– From ‘Rime of the Ancient Mariner’ by Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
The 2014 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival starts this Friday and is the perfect introduction for an expat to the wonderful world of Australian cuisine! The overarching theme for the Festival is our world’s most precious resource, water. This theme provides a thought-provoking foundation for creative expression and encourages discussion of the key issues facing the Australian water industry.
Placated by three central weekends of activity, the Festival opens with the World’s Longest Lunch along the banks of the Yarra on the 28th February. Then, the wine enthusiasts will come together for the Acqua Panna Global Wine Experience on the 1st and 2nd of March, to examine the critical importance of water in the winemaking industry.
The middle weekend will centre on a Langham Melbourne Master class from the 8th to the 9th of March, which will give foodies the chance to taste the creations of young upcoming chefs as well as seasoned seafood connoisseurs at a series of interactive cooking demonstrations.
From the 14th to the 16th of March, the Festival will visit a number of countryside locations to highlight the variety of delicious local produce abound in regional Victoria. This would be an excellent way for expats to escape the CBD and discover the beautiful landscape of the Victorian countryside.
Throughout the entire festival the Immersery Festival Kitchen Bar and Raingarden will be the signature location for the 2014 Festival. This nine-story testimony will house an incandescent utopia of food and nature. The gorgeous atmosphere is an eclectic mix of culture, the natural environment and cuisine. What an excellent way to integrate into the vibrant Melbourne social scene!
